Well I did it. I made my first hexie. Now I'm addicted!!! I took two mini charm packs (Odds & Ends by Julie Comstock) that I had gotten with some fabric orders, some teeny 1.5" hexie papers and got to work.
I followed the basic directions from the Hexa Go-Go book which I can't recommend highly enough! I'm using these as my "can I make hexies" test run before I tackle the American Flag quilt from the book. Looks like I need to start collecting my red, blue and aqua fabrics!
Linking up for the first time over at Parade Day at There and Back!
cute! i still haven't made one... someday!
ReplyDeleteThat. is. adorable. :) Red, blue and aqua, that sounds like FUN! I just finished my third Union Jack block, and now must decide on sashing fabric.. maybe someday an American Flag after that! :) Hustle on, Kelsey. xo
ReplyDeleteWatch out . . . they are sooooooo addicting.
ReplyDeleteyep - watch out it's easy to get addicted!
ReplyDeletecongrats on your first hexi! They are addicting!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought Hexa Go-Go this week and can't wait to get started - I've never tried one either. I really love the quilt that combines the string blocks with the hexagon rosettes. Maybe this weekend I'll give it a try :)
ReplyDeleteOnce you start, you may not stop. I'm 1200 into my '10 year project'.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to your new addiction!
ReplyDeleteYay! Hexies are the best. :) I have decided that I really need a copy of that book too.
ReplyDeleteAren't hexies fabulous?! I just make them randomly, with no project in mind. I find they come in handy for covering up stains on my daughter's clothes....
